My Dear Denver Days

Today is the eve of two years in Denver.
What a two years it has been.

I look around my apartment, at the picture on the wall. Most everything I see, and everyone in the pictures is from my dear Denver days. I keep in touch with just a few people from Ohio, that happens with time. They don't know who I talk about when I tell them stories, or what my job entails. When I have a good story to tell, I refer to my Denver friends. They fill my weekends and know the 25 year old me in a way Ohio never will, but they don't know my past. My past belongs to Ohio.

I was in Ohio last month, and my friends finally acknowledged that moving was best for me...I did the right thing. Then we laughed about high school or college. Inside jokes from years past. It felt good, but it felt just as good to get home to Denver.

I fit in Denver in a way I never did in Ohio. I think that's the best way to explain it. I don't know how long I'll be here, or where life will take me. But I do know that for right now I am right where I am supposed to be.

OH-IO

Sorry I haven't updated sooner, I was in Ohio. Lets recap shall we?

Wednesday-
I was at the airport for over 7 hours thank you snow delay. Fortunately I made a buddy at the airport and we hung out playing cards. I made it to my brother's apartment a little before 4:00am. Not so fun.

Thursday-
My mom and I went to South Park mall. Hard to beleive I haven't been there in 2 years! It was nice to walk around and just see everything. That night Dan and I went to IMPROV in Cleveland to meet up with Adam. The guy who made the "We aren't Detroit" video performed. Not that funny, but good to see downtown. After Dan and I went to Applebees with Casey and just all caught up. Lots of good times with that group.

Friday-
Jeremy and I went shopping then met up with Cindy and a winery. From there we went to Swensens. YUMMM :). At that point Cindy and I went to her aunts so she can read our tea leaves. Mine was a king poodle. Not sure what to make of that yet. Then we headed back to Cindy's and Dennis came over. He was awesome and drove me all the way back to Brunswick.

Saturday-
Christmas Eve! My mom and I went grocery shopping then headed to my Grandma's house. It was really great to see everyone! White Elephant was great at always, just all around where I wanted to be.

Sunday-
Christmas. This is actually my least favorite day of the trip. Ryan and I got into a fight--just all around stressful. That evening Diana and I went to see New Years Eve. Awful movie, but I'm glad I got to see her.

Monday-
I went to lunch with Jess and Adam. They are adorable together. I'm more excited than ever to be a part of their wedding! Super cute wedding. Mom and I went shopping. Other than that I just hung out w/ her and Ryan. That night we made it to the airport and I made it back to Denver. Carly was nice enough to pick me up.

It was a great visit. I loved seeing everyone and touching base. It did feel really good to get back to Denver. Home sweet home :)

Home for Christmas

I booked my overpriced flight to Ohio. I have been debating flying home for 2 weeks. It's a lot of money to go to..Ohio. I needed to get over that road block. It's not Ohio I'm paying to see...it's the people. The people in Ohio are priceless. SO people I will be home from December 21st (really late)-December 26th. I'm so excited to be with family for Christmas. AH I'm so excited for so many things! The second I booked the flight I knew it was the right thing to do.

Winning!

I'm writing this tired, so prepare yourself.

It was a strange week. I don't think I liked it very much? Now that it's over I feel like things are ok..it was just off (maybe the word I'm looking for here is hard. I couldn't decide).

In better news:
My mom rented an apartment. She is really doing it--moving to Myrtle Beach. I am so proud/excited for her! It's going to be strange to visit home...where do I go? Ohio or Myrtle Beach? Everyone else is in Ohio....it's going to be strange not having my mom there. All in all though this is a really good thing!

I'm exhausted. I don't know why...too much work this week maybe??? lalalalalala

I have a new obsession. Are you ready? Ok..let's go!
CHARLIE FREAKING SHEEN
He is bi-winning. He wins here AND there. Not to mention he has tiger blood :)

Snowshoeing!

Hi hi
I went snowshoeing and I didn't feel like I was going to die! lol It was actually fun! Go figure.

Things with Denver are going really good. It's crazy to think that in 6 months I'll be headed to Europe. There was an announcement for a concert in July and it hit me I won't be able to go--not that I want to, but I don't have the option. It's just sad to think that life in Denver is going to go on without me here. Siigh. I love it here, and I'll be sad to leave. This program is important and I need it to get to where I am supposed to be.

I...I feel sad when I see people going through the Quarter Life Crises. I understand, I really do. Been there done that, I don't know how to tell you to get to the other side. But I promise it does get better. Please just relax and have faith that life has a plan for you.

I'm going to be in Ohio in less than a week--I think if this week goes like I think I will be more than wanted, but needed.

Cheers to 2011!

It's a new year which brings new beginnings :)

Denver finally got snow...gross. I honestly had not driven in snow in over a year. I realized I don't miss it. And I mean really--did it have to storm right before New Years Eve???? LAME.

It was still a good NYE though. Doug and I went to The Hard Rock Cafe then watched the 9pm fireworks show downtown. It was FREEZING! Still really cool that I can walk a block and be in the middle of the whole celebration. Once the fireworks were done I went with Doug to his friends house in Broomfield. It was his church group--which included his cousins and brother. We played telephone pictionary. It's a super fun game so you have to try it sometime. If you want to know how just ask :) Then we hang downstairs where everyone was playing Dance Dance or something on Wii. I didn't participate but I watched, and it was hilarious! Before we knew it, it was 2011. We left soon after and hung out here...which was fun until the fire alarm started ringing, and didn't stop for an hour. The fire department came and knocked on all the doors asking people if they had been cooking. It would be funny if it wasn't so annoying.

Today I spent New Years Day with my family. We hung at Michelle's and ate chili and watched football. How American of us.

OO! Big news! I got a ticket home! I will be in Ohio from Jan 21-Jan 25!!!!!!!! I'm really excited!
AND Bigger news Jessica Fegan is getting married!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So excited for you future Mrs. Rhoads!

Where does the time go!?!

Hi guys!

I'm watching the Indiana Jones Marathon and it's awesome. Everything I want it to be! I am going to have to cut it off early though--Kinda of sad.

This has been a good weekend! Friday I went to happy hour...which lasted a lot longer than an hour. It was fun---excited for Trivia! Then I watched the Soccer game with my cousins. Yesterday Doug and I went out for lunch then he showed me around Colorado School of Mines. It's a cute campus. Kind of made me miss Akron's campus though :) Our student union wins hands down--but I might be biased. Saturday night I went out for Ben's Birthday. It was a diverse group. people were from Ohio (me!) Iowa, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, and I think Texas. I think that is my favorite thing about Colorado. EVERYONE is from somewhere else! Anyways the night was fun, well maybe not the walking part. I'm still amused at the beginning of the walk people were proud of themselves for being green...further into the walk people were so angry they wanted to skip dessert. I guess it's one of those you had to be there kinda things.

GO AKRON! When I watched this game last year I was at Dennis's graduation party. Time flies. Go rock the championship!!!!!

Ok I'm running late---later kids!

Drive Me Crazy!

...was the movie that got me through junior high. I'm watching it right now, I was too busy at work today to have the time to call Comcast. Oh well, most reality tv I can watch online. I got three enrollments at work today! Cheers to that!

Other than that things are going. I think I'm going to try to get my Colorado license and plates. Fun eh? Everything is organized and all that in my apartment. Just trying to figure out if Ryan is coming with everything else from Ohio. I'll know more this weekend.

I guess I don't have more to say...I really thought I did. I apologize for wasting your time w/ this post.

A Drive

When I was little my least favorite thing when I was little was to go for drives. My mom would pile me and Ryan into the Talon and just take off down I71. Sometimes to make things extra bad we would stop in the middle of nowhere and look at the starts. Ryan would humor her I would usually hang in the car rolling my eyes and playing with my dolls. Needless to say I did not enjoy these "trips" and I did not understand why my mom enjoyed them so much. I haven't thought of them in years. Well tonight what did I do? I went for a drive. While driving I was mad that I couldn't see the stars because of Denver lights. For the first time though, I understand the appeal of just driving. It's a stress reliever to have the windows down and music blasting. It was all strangely comforting. Since I got here I have never wanted to go back to Ohio-never regretted my move. I just enjoy the little things that make me feel connected to where I grew up--to my mom. Ohio is not my home anymore, but that doesn't mean I'm not looking foreword to Cedar Point or to seeing some really great people who are still there.

one track mind like me

I feel as though my security has been breached. I am slowly gaining more and more Denver friends on facebook, thus they get access to this. See I'm good with Ohio people looking at this because for the most part I'm not talking about you. Denver people on the other hand...well they are part of my daily life. Which isn't bad, it's just they actually know who I'm talking about. Like today I tried to "edit" a blog so it would be alright for one person to see...yea no editing could help that. I had to delete it. (Yes it HAD to be deleted for reasons I am not getting into on this blog) So I tried to make it private but to do that I have to type in the email of every person that wants to read this, that is a pain for you and me. Not to mention that is not why I started this.
((that paragraph is the result of me over thinking WAY too much))

Moving on...

I got a political internship. Now I just need a job. It's going to be interesting to go from no job to two jobs. But this could lead to really big things. It's been an interesting week...too much is happening and I find myself just concentrating on the other thing. Damn my one track mind.

Tonight me Michelle, Becka and Elisa went out for dinner. It was nice. I was the only one not tipsy from the wine but you'll have that. AND the Lakers lost so all in all a good night.

This past weekend...

I feel like I haven't been telling you guys what I have been doing, instead I have been talking nonsense. You wanna know what I have been up to? Here goes:

It was a good weekend.

Friday night Dan and I went to a bar called Tavern on the Town. It's a really cool bar. There is a back room that opens to the outside in the summer. In the winter it's obviously closed. There is also a random bowling ally in the back. You all know how much I hate bowling, but it was fun. Dan and I just hung out and watched ESPN. A couple of creepers tried to hit on me and I thought a guy was going to try to steel my favorite lotion. No worries though we made it out with the lotion. ha.

Saturday I went and did errands during the day then that evening I went to Meredith and Kyle's for dinner. They made steak, sweet potatoes, veggies, salad and Texas toast (yes they still call it Texas toast even in Texas) AND I brought chocolate cake. It was delicious. When I get an apartment I promised to have them over for dinner.

Today was a lazy day. I'm reading the JR Ward books, and whoever said they are better than the Sookie books hasn't read the Sookie books. These books aren't bad, but they are really predictable...maybe my problem is I miss Sookie. Other than that I'm trying to enjoy the Winter Olympics, but I'm having a hard time getting into them. I like Jamaica though (Jamaica has a bob sled team..) Now I'm babysitting Ashley and preparing to watch The Office :)

I did realize though that I like Colorado better than Ohio, so that's pretty cool. And people who think we have more snow than Ohio should eat their words, I have seen a total of like 3 days of light snow since I got here. I have been here 5 weeks (haha Adam I made it 5 weeks!)

Oh this week I have an interview for an campaign internship with a governor campaign. I'll let you know how is goes.

The Olympics

The Olympic season is upon us. I have to say Canada I think the only thing you people do right is ice wine. No offense, that opening ceremony was crap. AND don't get me started on the poor guy who died on your luge course. I'm shaking my head at you! I'm glad you experienced technical difficulties. London I'm sure you will do better in two years, I mean really all you have to do is talk and it's already better. ha

It makes me think of Michael Phelps day. That was a good day, or maybe I just want to remember it that way. It was before everything was different...it's strange how people you know for years can change so drastically and credit God for it. I'm sorry but I don't think God wants the credit for how you changed. Just saying...

Happy Almost Valentines Day!
