Education and Public Policy

I am officially a student again. I just finished my homework for the night, yup homework. It's as bad as I remembered it to be. Fortunatly, I am in the program with friends. We are suffering through it together :)

Things have been really busy. I FINALLY have a CO lisence! I am also a registered Republican. It hurt for a second giving up Ohio voting privledges, but it was time. Now I just need to get plates for my car and I will be good to go!

Life has been a blurr. The weekend went by in the blink of an eye. Ellie moved. I had volunteering and a girls night. Oh did I mention I joined a gym? Apparently starting gradschool wasn't enough. Busy is an understatement for how things are right now.

So yeah, just watched to check in.

9/11

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day? I was a freshman in high school-more specifically I was in study hall. I don't think I'll ever forget that day.

My heart goes out to everyone who lost their jobs, while just being at work. What a scary-terrifying way to go. To have to jump or burn? To be in a building collapsing-it's something I can't imagine.  I'm so grateful to the 343 firefighters that gave their lives that day...I'm also above thankful my brother was not there. He would not have left the buildings until everyone he could save was out, my brother would have died. The firefighter thing hits too close to home. They were just doing their jobs.

I spent today at the park. Colorado hosted an all day event to remember. There were speeches, a military parade, gun salute and jet fly over the capital.  There were parts of the twin towers that fell. It was a bitter sweet day. it was nice to take the time to remember everything, and see how far we have come. It's just heartbreaking how many people lost their lives all because of hatred.

After the ceremony the Beach Boys gave a concert. It might seem odd, but it was exactly what we needed. We took the time to remember and then celebrated how far we have come. As you can see me and Cathy were front row center. They performed for 2 hours.

10 years from now I don't think I will forget this day. It was one of those perfect amazing Denver weekends. It showed that Osama didn't win. We are still the home of the free and the land of the brave, but we haven't forgotten.

Sleepy

This is more than I usually post. I should be sleeping. The dishes are done, the closets are even organized. I guess I'm not sure what to do with myself tonight. That sentence made me sound old. I'm just tired, but I want to properly say goodbye to May. June is upon us, and June means summer. And summer means new beginnings.

I'm sorta in love with this song right now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdlTt3E7w4Y
I like that it mentions Colorado AND London. Sorry I have a one track mind and it's stuck on London. Deal with it. Geez I'm tired. This isn't me saying goodbye at all.

So May-it's been real. It's been fun...kinda. There have been some big upsides to May. I can't deny that, but for now changes are coming. I can smell it. Or maybe the smell isn't change. Perhaps it's my super awesome birthday cake candle. Be jealous.

Ok I'm going to bed. Sorry for this irrelevant post.

Home Sweet Home

She'd trade Colorado if he'd take her with him,
Closes the door before the winter lets the cold in,
And wonders if her love is strong enough to make him stay,
She's answered by the tail lights
Shining through the window pane

I was talking to my mom about coming home. I mentioned that I feel like I'm supposed to be in Denver right now-there is a lot happening. She agreed, she said that even being out of this state for a few days right now would make me antsy. I don't know what that means for Christmas. I'm not too worried about it. I mean what does it mean for everything? I didn't like being away from Denver for more than a couple of days. At what point did Denver become home?

I talked to Jere. We were avoiding each other, because we knew what the other had to say. It was an over due conversation though-he just confirmed what I was thinking. I'm lucky to have such good friends. I think this everyday and it's so true. Both in Colorado and Ohio.

LeBron was back in Cleveland. The fans booed (which they should have!) I like this article a lot: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/michael_rosenberg/12/02/lebron.return.cleveland/index.html#ixzz1722OAUG9 There are other that were good too. You don't understand what it means to Cleveland unless you're from Cleveland.

Walking in the rain

I saw Inception. I like to think of myself as pretty intelligent. I thought I understood it, but then the ending screwed up everything I thought was going on. So no, I didn't understand it. I don't think it is as great as everyone is saying it is. Sorry kids.

It's primary week. Which means a lot of phone calls, sign waves ect. I make enough phone calls at work, it's the last thing I want to do w/ my weekend is make more phone calls. Well I did. We are in it to win it! GO SCOTT! After campaign shenanigans I saw the above movie. When Sally and I left the theater it was raining, and yes we had to walk. Good times, other than the fact that my neighbors think I am stalking them :) ha.

Moving on ---> should make this the theme of my life (Lyndsay stop rolling your eyes)

This video is funny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYGpelWYFx0
No I do not think I can be considered a "Colorado girl" YET but needless to say I enjoy it.

This past weekend...

I feel like I haven't been telling you guys what I have been doing, instead I have been talking nonsense. You wanna know what I have been up to? Here goes:

It was a good weekend.

Friday night Dan and I went to a bar called Tavern on the Town. It's a really cool bar. There is a back room that opens to the outside in the summer. In the winter it's obviously closed. There is also a random bowling ally in the back. You all know how much I hate bowling, but it was fun. Dan and I just hung out and watched ESPN. A couple of creepers tried to hit on me and I thought a guy was going to try to steel my favorite lotion. No worries though we made it out with the lotion. ha.

Saturday I went and did errands during the day then that evening I went to Meredith and Kyle's for dinner. They made steak, sweet potatoes, veggies, salad and Texas toast (yes they still call it Texas toast even in Texas) AND I brought chocolate cake. It was delicious. When I get an apartment I promised to have them over for dinner.

Today was a lazy day. I'm reading the JR Ward books, and whoever said they are better than the Sookie books hasn't read the Sookie books. These books aren't bad, but they are really predictable...maybe my problem is I miss Sookie. Other than that I'm trying to enjoy the Winter Olympics, but I'm having a hard time getting into them. I like Jamaica though (Jamaica has a bob sled team..) Now I'm babysitting Ashley and preparing to watch The Office :)

I did realize though that I like Colorado better than Ohio, so that's pretty cool. And people who think we have more snow than Ohio should eat their words, I have seen a total of like 3 days of light snow since I got here. I have been here 5 weeks (haha Adam I made it 5 weeks!)

Oh this week I have an interview for an campaign internship with a governor campaign. I'll let you know how is goes.
