If I am going to "blog" then this feels like the perfect time to start. I just moved from Cleveland to Denver. Location is an upgrade, but I would be lying if I said leaving my friends and family was easy. If I wasn't positive that this is what is right for me I don't think I could have done it. Just being here feels...right. There is no non cheesy way to say that.
ANYWAYS.
The drive here was long, but good. As good as a 24 hour trip in a Sunfire can be. The first night we slept in Illinois. I liked that it was the home of Lincoln, and I am envious that he is on their drivers plates. Siigh. We stayed in a brand new hotel, that was in a wall-mart parking lot. There was nothing else around. At this point I loss respect for Illinois.
Saint Louis was my favorite part of the trip. I went to the top of the arch, and that was sweet (to add a DC reference I still think going to the top of the Washington monument was better). The dork in me enjoyed the arch and the Mississippi river because of Percy Jackson. If you know what I'm talking about I love you.
The rest of the trip was a whole lot of nothing. Kansas was not as bad as I was expecting, just not my style. I passed the time listing to
The Time Travelers Wife (which is a great audio book if you are into that sort of thing) All in all the weather was good and I made pretty decent time.
Finely, I reached Denver Friday afternoon.
Denver is just like I remembered it to be in October, except nicer because we aren't experiencing a blizzard. The mountains take my breath away, the view from where I am staying is grand. Luckily it is enough like home that it's not a huge culture shock. The biggest difference so far has been the time change. I am two hours behind Ohio, I think I am adjusting to that pretty good though. Other than that now I have better views and a lot more food choices. Oh! Believe it or not things are a little bit cheaper here.
So far I have spent a lot of time settling in. *If you don't work at Borders skip ahead a few lines* I went to the Borders near me (I just HAD to) and was sad to find that it closed, until I went in. The tables at the FOS were still done for Christmas. I wish we could have gotten away with that. A staff person was in line at SBC and the person working wouldn't let them pay for the drink...uh. I could continue, let's just say I understand why they are closing that store.
So yea so far things are great, Michelle and Mike (even though he is a huge Lakers fan) are super welcoming. I have watched more football here than I had in my entire life, I am starting to understand the game! And of course the kids are adorable. In general people in Denver just seem plain nicer (and just to note the boys are cute!).
With that said, I miss you all. I hope this blog will enable you all to continue to feel part of my day to day life. It's another one of many ways to keep in touch.
